Poetry Paintings

Poetry Paintings

Each artistic medium, visual or verbal, has a different function in our perception. Painting provokes our visual perception and poetry is our auditory perception. They both evoke our emotions and thoughts. Painting is the poetry of colors. As we read poems through words, we read painting through visual elements, in a particular color. In painting, and especially in the abstract type, each color works as a word that provokes a different feeling in each of us. In this project, through the combination of illegible words and colors each poem becomes an abstract painting, and each painting turns into colorful poetry. These works extend through the media of poetry, painting, calligraphy, and photography, and create a colorful harmony between them. To do this, I first write the poems through distinctive styles of both Persian and Latin calligraphy. Then take photos or scan the pieces, and digitally work them until they turn into abstract poetry paintings. Finally, I print them on canvas or paper.
